SAN ANTONIO — The Atlanta Braves have chosen to exercise designated hitter Marcell Ozuna’s $16 million option for the 2025 season, while they decided against exercising options on right-handed pitcher Luke Jackson and catcher Travis d’Arnaud.

Ozuna, who will celebrate his 34th birthday on November 12, earned a spot on the All-Star team for the third time this year. He concluded the season with impressive statistics, including a .302 batting average along with 39 home runs and 104 runs batted in. This decision increases the total value of his contract to $80 million over a period of five years.

For Jackson, his option was valued at $7 million, coupled with a $2 million buyout, while d’Arnaud’s option stood at $8 million without a buyout clause.

Jackson previously played for the Braves from 2017 to 2021 before moving to San Francisco. He missed the entire 2022 season due to Tommy John surgery but was re-signed by Atlanta on July 29. The 33-year-old pitcher finished the season with a 4.50 earned run average across 16 relief appearances, and his overall statistics presented a 5.09 ERA over 52 games.

Catcher Travis d’Arnaud, now 35 years old, posted a batting average of .238 with 15 home runs and 48 RBIs through 307 at-bats this season.

Additionally, the Braves activated several players from the 60-day injured list, including outfielder Ronald Acuña Jr. and pitchers Ray Kerr, Angel Perdomo, Spencer Strider, and Huascar Ynoa.
