The Arizona Cardinals have reached an agreement to acquire linebacker Baron Browning from the Denver Broncos, a move intended to enhance the team’s pass rush as the trade deadline approaches.

The Cardinals are set to exchange a sixth-round draft pick in 2025 for Browning, pending a successful physical examination.

Browning, who is 25 years old, is in his fourth season in the NFL after being drafted in the third round of the 2021 NFL Draft from Ohio State. Throughout his career, he has accumulated a total of 9 1/2 sacks, although he has yet to register a sack this season. Several prominent players on the Cardinals roster also hail from Ohio State, including left tackle Paris Johnson Jr. and wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr.

This season, Browning has played in only five games due to a foot injury that has kept him sidelined for a period of time.

Currently, the Cardinals hold a record of 5-4 and are riding a three-game winning streak, positioning them at the top of the NFC West division. While the team’s pass rush has been underwhelming for most of the season, they did turn in an impressive performance with six sacks during a decisive 29-9 victory over the Chicago Bears on Sunday.
