SANTIAGO, Chile — Authorities in Chile announced on Monday that they are examining allegations of sexual assault involving members of the Colo Colo soccer team, including renowned ex-international player Arturo Vidal.

A prosecutor’s office based in Santiago disclosed that the incident allegedly occurred at a bar situated in the upscale Vitacura area of the capital. A woman has reportedly claimed that her sister was drugged and subsequently assaulted by players from the Colo Colo team.

According to a local police official, Vidal, aged 37, was brought to a police station in Vitacura to undergo a standard investigative identity check, which is a common procedure for individuals suspected of involvement in criminal activities.

After the identity check was completed, Vidal was released, and he chose not to make any statements regarding the incident.

In addition, law enforcement indicated that several other players associated with the team have also undergone similar procedures and have provided testimonies related to the situation.

On the same day, the Santiago court also released another former Chilean international player, Jorge Valdivia. He had been taken into custody on October 22 in relation to a rape investigation, as he was accused of committing the act two days earlier.

Valdivia has vehemently denied the allegations against him, maintaining his innocence.
