ATLANTA — Atlanta Falcons wide receiver Drake London has been declared unfit to play due to a hip injury suffered during a 9-yard touchdown catch against the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday.
London experienced a significant fall landing hard on his right hip after successfully catching a pass from Kirk Cousins over Cowboys cornerback Trevon Diggs, which allowed the Falcons to take an early 7-3 lead in the first quarter.
Initially, it seemed there were no signs of an injury; London celebrated the touchdown by tossing the ball aside, high-fiving teammates, and even performed a headstand in homage to a college player’s celebration that had been seen the previous day.
Unfortunately, London did not return to the field for the remainder of the game, wrapping up his performance with two receptions totaling 27 yards. Although he attempted to stay active by pedaling an exercise bike on the sidelines, the Falcons ultimately decided to keep him out of the game after halftime.
Prior to this matchup, London was leading the Falcons in receiving, boasting impressive statistics with 48 receptions for 525 yards and five touchdowns.
