EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. — In an unexpected turn of events, Brian Robinson, the top rusher for the Washington Commanders, was sidelined for the game on Sunday against the New York Giants.
Robinson had participated in practices throughout the week but was limited, ultimately being marked as questionable in the team’s final injury report released on Friday. With his absence, Austin Ekeler is expected to carry the bulk of the running back duties for the team.
Throughout this season, Robinson has showcased impressive stats, amassing a total of 461 rushing yards accompanied by six touchdowns. Notably, he had an outstanding performance against the Giants earlier in the season, where he achieved a career-high of 133 yards on 17 carries in their matchup in September.
The Giants, on the other hand, are coping with their own roster changes. In a significant adjustment for Sunday’s game, Jude McAtamney, a player from the practice squad, will step in as the kicker. This change comes after Greg Joseph was placed on injured reserve due to an abdominal injury, which was announced on Friday. Joseph had taken over the kicking responsibilities after Graham Gano suffered an injury during the opening kickoff in their previous game against Washington on September 15.
As both teams make these adjustments, the match-up promises to be intriguing, with fans keen to see how the Commanders will manage without their leading rusher and how the Giants will adapt with a new kicker in the lineup.
