Oklahoma City experienced a powerful tornado and intense thunderstorms early on Sunday, leading to an undisclosed level of destruction, as reported by weather authorities and local news outlets.

Thankfully, initial reports have not indicated any injuries resulting from the severe weather events.

According to PowerOutage.us, over 53,000 residents lost electricity in the region. Local reports highlighted damage within a neighborhood that included uprooted tree parts and a vehicle that was turned over by the storm’s force.

In response to the severe weather, the National Weather Service issued a tornado watch for the region on Sunday morning. Around 1:30 a.m., the Norman, Oklahoma office took to social media to inform the public about a severe thunderstorm accompanied by a tornado that was advancing through eastern Oklahoma City, moving towards Midwest City and Tinker Air Force Base.

In its announcement, the agency emphasized the urgency, advising anyone caught in the storm’s trajectory to seek immediate shelter.
