TERRE HAUTE, Ind. — In an exciting football matchup on Saturday, Indiana State emerged victorious over North Dakota with a final score of 35-31, thanks to standout performances from several players. Elijah Owens was instrumental, tossing two touchdown passes during the game, while Plez Lawrence made significant contributions with two touchdowns of his own. Additionally, Joey Shew showcased his defensive skills with a notable pick-6.

The first score of the game came from Shaw, who returned an interception 20 yards for a touchdown. Lawrence continued to shine, executing a thrilling 53-yard touchdown run and later catching a 39-yard touchdown pass in the third quarter, bringing the Sycamores (4-5, 3-2 Missouri Valley Football Conference) to a 35-28 lead.

The Fighting Hawks (5-4, 2-3), positioned 15th in the FCS coaches poll, responded early in the fourth quarter with a field goal, narrowing the deficit.
