EL SEGUNDO, California — The Los Angeles Chargers have activated wide receiver D.J. Chark from the injured reserve list, preparing him to make his debut with the team on Sunday against the Cleveland Browns.
Chark, in his seventh NFL season, had been sidelined for the first seven games due to a groin injury he sustained during the last week of training camp. Over his six prior seasons with the Jacksonville Jaguars, Detroit Lions, and Carolina Panthers, he recorded an average of 14.5 yards per catch, accumulating 23 touchdown receptions.
In addition to Chark’s return, the Chargers have also promoted cornerback Eli Apple and wide receiver Jalen Reagor from their practice squad for the matchup against the Browns.
Apple joined the Chargers’ practice squad on October 14 after the team faced multiple injuries in their defensive backfield. The 10th overall selection in the 2016 NFL Draft by the New York Giants, he has also played for New Orleans, Carolina, Cincinnati, and Miami during his career.
He will be stepping in due to starting cornerback Kristian Fulton being declared unavailable for the game due to a hamstring injury.
This will mark Jalen Reagor’s third consecutive game being elevated from the practice squad to the active roster.
Furthermore, the Chargers have officially placed rookie wide receiver Brenden Rice on the injured reserve list because of a shoulder injury.
