NEW BRITAIN, Conn. – On Saturday, Brady Olson showcased his prowess by scoring one touchdown on the ground and another through the air, leading Central Connecticut to a solid 24-14 victory over Wagner.

The Blue Devils (4-5, 3-1 in the Northeast Conference) displayed a formidable defense during their homecoming game, amassing six sacks and limiting Wagner to a mere 24 rushing yards. While Wagner managed to gain 181 yards through the air, a significant portion—81 yards—came from a single play at the start of the match when quarterback Jake Cady found receiver Rickey Spruill for a long touchdown.

Spruill’s impressive play saw him escape the backfield and sprint 60 yards into the end zone after catching the ball from Cady in the middle of the field.

Central Connecticut’s Olson then equalized with a 10-yard touchdown run towards the end of the first quarter and ensured his team’s win with a decisive 17-yard touchdown pass to Joe Crifasi, effectively sealing the game with 5:23 remaining. This final scoring drive spanned 10 plays over a distance of 75 yards, consuming nearly seven minutes off the clock.

In the passing game, Olson completed 16 of 27 attempts for a total of 182 yards. Running back Elijah Howard contributed to the score with an 8-yard rushing touchdown just before halftime, boosting the Blue Devils to a 17-7 lead at the break while finishing the game with 75 rushing yards. Defensively, Dan Toatley stood out with an impressive 3.5 sacks.

Wagner’s Spruill also found the end zone with a 13-yard touchdown run early in the fourth quarter, narrowing the gap to 17-14.
