BUFFALO, N.Y. — During Friday night’s matchup between the New York Islanders and the Buffalo Sabres, defenseman Mike Reilly was assisted off the ice after an incident midway through the game.
Reilly took a significant hit from Buffalo forward Jordan Greenway, which resulted in him appearing to make contact with his head against the ice. Initially, Greenway was assessed a five-minute penalty for the hit; however, this penalty was lifted after a review of the footage.
Following the collision, Reilly remained on the ice for an extended period before teammate support was offered to help guide him to the locker room.
