SEATTLE — Kelsey Plum is set to make history as she will be the first women’s basketball player from the University of Washington to have her jersey retired.
The announcement was made on Friday, revealing that Plum’s No. 10 jersey will be officially honored on January 18, 2025, during a game against Purdue.
In her statement to the university, Plum expressed her pride in being a Husky and acknowledged how the experience shaped her both as an athlete and an individual.
“This honor means everything to me, and I look forward to celebrating it alongside my family, friends, and fellow alumni,” she conveyed.
Plum is expected to attend the upcoming football game where the Huskies will face Southern California.
During her time at Washington from 2013 to 2017, she made history by becoming the NCAA’s all-time leading scorer, accumulating a total of 3,527 points—a record that Caitlin Clark from Iowa would later surpass last season.
Additionally, Kelsey Plum played a crucial role in leading the Las Vegas Aces to win WNBA championships in both 2022 and 2023.
She has also represented the United States on the international stage, securing a gold medal with the women’s basketball team at the Paris Olympics and winning another gold in 3×3 basketball at the Tokyo Olympics.
