GREEN BAY, Wis. — As the Green Bay Packers prepare for their matchup against the NFC North-leading Detroit Lions, uncertainty surrounds the status of quarterback Jordan Love. However, it is confirmed that the team’s secondary will be compromised this Sunday.
The Packers (6-2) released an injury report on Friday, revealing that safety Evan Williams will not play due to a hamstring injury. Pro Bowl cornerback Jaire Alexander is also in jeopardy of missing the game due to a knee issue, having not participated in practice throughout the week.
Meanwhile, Love has been marked as questionable after limited participation in practices for two consecutive days. He is recovering from a groin strain sustained in the third quarter during a 30-27 win against Jacksonville last Sunday. “We’ll give him up to game time to see how he’s feeling,” said Packers coach Matt LaFleur regarding Love’s situation.
The injury report also lists center Josh Myers as doubtful with a wrist injury that has hindered his ability to practice this week. Cornerback Corey Ballentine (ankle) and running back Josh Jacobs (ankle) are also on the questionable list.
On the other hand, the Lions (6-1) are grappling with their own set of injury concerns. They have confirmed that linebacker Malcolm Rodriguez (ankle), defensive lineman Josh Paschal (illness), and defensive tackle Brodric Martin (knee) will not participate in the game. Additionally, running back Sione Vaki (knee) and defensive lineman Mekhi Wingo (ankle) are considered doubtful to play.
As both teams navigate through their injury challenges, the upcoming game promises to be a gripping contest between two strong NFC North rivals.
