The Oakland Athletics are preparing for a significant change as they transition from Oakland to Sacramento for the upcoming season, with a schedule featuring 60 night games.
This total would equal the franchise’s historic record for night games in a single season, previously set by the team in 1968.
Due to Sacramento’s generally warmer climate compared to the Bay Area, the newly released schedule reveals that 25 out of 28 home games in June and July will be played at night, catering to fans looking to enjoy the games during the cooler evening hours.
The A’s inaugural game at Sutter Health Park in West Sacramento is slated for the evening of March 31, where they will face the Chicago Cubs.
Additionally, during the 81-game home schedule, eleven of the 21 day games are planned for April and May, with a minimal number of six Sunday day games arranged from June through August, aligning with the team’s strategy to maximize fan comfort amid the summer heat.
The Athletics are set to remain in Sacramento for a span of three seasons before pursuing a future relocation to Las Vegas, where they aim to establish a new ballpark prior to the start of the 2028 season.
This transition marks a new chapter for the franchise as they seek to enhance their presence and fan engagement in Northern California and beyond.
