Dodgers clinch World Series victory in 5 games, rallying from a 5-run deficit aided by mistakes to triumph over Yankees 7-6

The Los Angeles Dodgers clinched the Championship in a dramatic game 5 in the very last inning – and the whole city of Los Angeles is celebrating all the night. Tens of thousands are on the Los Angeles streets, celebrate in thousand of bars. LA goes crazy !

The Los Angeles Dodgers clinched their second World Series title in just five years, staging a dramatic comeback to defeat the New York Yankees 7-6 in Game 5 on Wednesday night. The victory was marked by a significant rally, sparked by three defensive errors from the Yankees that allowed the Dodgers to recover from a five-run deficit. Key contributions came from Gavin Lux and Mookie Betts, who both delivered crucial sacrifice flies in the eighth inning.

In an explosive start, Aaron Judge and Jazz Chisholm Jr. hit consecutive home runs in the first inning, pushing the Yankees into an early lead. Following that, Alex Verdugo’s RBI single knocked Dodger pitcher Jack Flaherty out of the game in the second inning, and Giancarlo Stanton extended the Yankees’ advantage with a home run in the third, bringing the score to 5-0.

However, the game’s momentum shifted dramatically due to errors from Judge in center field and Anthony Volpe at shortstop. Additionally, pitcher Gerrit Cole failed to cover first base on a ground ball hit by Betts. These miscues led to the Dodgers capitalizing with five unearned runs in the fifth inning, effectively erasing the Yankees’ lead.

The Yankees managed to regain the edge when Stanton hit a sacrifice fly in the sixth, bringing the score to 6-5. Still, the Dodgers responded fiercely in the eighth inning, loading the bases against Tommy Kahnle before benefiting from a pair of sacrifice flies off pitcher Luke Weaver.

Blake Treinen, who secured the victory for the Dodgers, navigated a difficult situation in the bottom of the eighth, managing to retire Stanton with a flyout and striking out Anthony Rizzo with one out and two men on base. Walker Buehler, making his first relief appearance since his rookie season in 2018, closed out the game flawlessly in the ninth inning for the save.

The LA Dodgers have turned game 5 in New York completely around in the 5th inning. After the Yankees were already leading after the 4th inning with 5 – 0, in a game where the Yankees had a very strong performance and the Dodgers performed very weak, the Dodgers staged an impressive comeback.

The Yankees had a disastrous 5th inning. First they gifted the Dodgers a routine ground ball to Anthony Rizzo while Cole didn’t cover the base.

Then the Dodgers scored two more, when their hero Freddie Freeman wins a five pitch battle and dunks a single into center field – so it was 5 – 3. Freddie Freeman ties now a World Series history record of Bobby Richardson with 12 RBIs.

In the 6th inning the Yankees were fighting back: Stanton crushes on to center, deep enough to get Soto home from third – the Yankees regain the lead at 6 – 5.

But in the 8th inning the Dodgers made two very important points – first thanks to Gavin Lux who drives in a run with sac fly and Edman move up to tie it at 6 – 6.

Then the Dodgers had luck as Austin Wells was called for father’s interference and Ohtani reaches first. Finally Mookie Betts hit a sac fly to drive in one more run for the 7 – 6 lead.

IN GTHE END IT WAS WALKER BUEHLER WHO BECAME THE HERO OF THE NIGHT WHEN HE SCORED THREE YANKEE-OUTS IN THE LAST INNING!!!

WHAT A DRAMATIC GAME 5 – WHAT A DRAMATIC SERIES – WHAT A GREAT VICTORY FOR THE DODGERS – AND WHAT INCREDIBLE CELEBRATIONS NOW IN LOS ANGELES !!!
