CLEVELAND — Pro Bowl linebacker Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah of the Browns will not participate in this week’s matchup against the Los Angeles Chargers as he continues his recovery from a neck injury sustained during a tackle in the previous game.

Owusu-Koramoah was taken to the hospital following a significant hit while attempting to tackle Baltimore’s running back Derrick Henry. As the team’s leading tackler, Owusu-Koramoah received a heavy impact on his head and neck area.

Trainers had to remove his facemask at the scene, and he was placed on a backboard before being carted off the field late in the third quarter. Fortunately, medical staff indicated that the 24-year-old displayed movement in both his arms and legs.

Coach Kevin Stefanski mentioned that Owusu-Koramoah was present at the team’s facility on Wednesday before heading home, although no further details about his injury were disclosed.

Following their game against the Chargers, the Browns (2-6) will take a bye week before facing the New Orleans Saints on November 17. Prior to his injury against the Ravens, Owusu-Koramoah recorded seven tackles — five of which were solo. He leads the Browns with a total of 61 tackles this season, marking his best performance so far.

Additionally, Browns cornerback Denzel Ward remains in the concussion protocol following his injury in the same game. This marks the sixth official concussion for Ward since he entered the NFL six years ago as a first-round draft pick from Ohio State.

Stefanski did not completely rule out Ward for this weekend’s game, stating that his status is being evaluated on a day-to-day basis. A three-time Pro Bowler, Ward is currently leading the league with 12 passes defended and has achieved at least 10 in each season for the past seven years.
