MANCHESTER, England — Manchester City forward Vivianne Miedema has undergone another surgery on her left knee, as announced by the club on Wednesday.
The 28-year-old Dutch international first suffered an ACL tear in December 2022 while competing for Arsenal, sidelining her for a significant portion of the following year, which included missing the 2023 Women’s World Cup.
Miedema had previously required a minor procedure last season, and Manchester City confirmed that her most recent surgery was successful. However, they did not provide a specific timeline regarding her potential return.
This season is shaping up positively for Manchester City, which remains unbeaten and is currently leading both the English league and its group in the Women’s Champions League.
The team recently claimed victory over reigning European champions Barcelona on October 9, with a return match scheduled in Spain on December 18 during the final round of group play.
To manage her ongoing injury, Miedema opted out of joining the Dutch national team last week for two upcoming international friendlies.
