Ex-Commanders first-round selection Jamin Davis signs with Packers’ practice squad

The Green Bay Packers have welcomed linebacker Jamin Davis to their practice squad just one week after his release from the Washington Commanders.
The Packers made the announcement on Tuesday, confirming Davis’s addition along with the decision to let go of linebacker Chris Russell from their practice squad.

Davis was drafted by Washington as the 19th overall pick in 2021 out of Kentucky and has since played a significant role on the team, starting 36 games from 2021 to 2023.
However, with the Commanders implementing a new leadership structure under general manager Adam Peters and head coach Dan Quinn, Davis’s playing time diminished this season.

The 25-year-old linebacker recorded 13 tackles in just five games before his release on October 22.
In an effort to utilize his skills more effectively, the Commanders even considered transitioning him to a defensive end role.

Davis’s career peaked in the 2022 season, where he notched an impressive 104 tackles and achieved three sacks during both the 2022 and 2023 seasons.
The Packers hope that his experience and talent will bolster their defensive unit as they look forward to the remainder of the season.
