NEW YORK — Sean “Diddy” Combs faces serious allegations in two separate lawsuits filed on Monday, one of which accuses him of drugging and sexually assaulting a 10-year-old boy in a New York City hotel room in 2005.
The second suit includes claims against the hip-hop icon for a similar assault on a 17-year-old contestant who aspired to be part of the reality television series “Making the Band” back in 2008.
These new claims are part of a broader trend of legal actions in which numerous individuals allege that Combs sexually assaulted them during various gatherings and events over the past twenty years.
In response to the lawsuits, Combs’ legal representatives have firmly rejected the allegations and accused attorney Anthony Buzbee—who is also representing individuals in earlier cases—of attempting to garner publicity from the situation.
“Mr. Combs and his legal team have full confidence in the facts and the integrity of the judicial process,” the statement issued via email asserted. “In court, the truth will prevail: that Mr. Combs never sexually assaulted or trafficked anyone—man or woman, adult or minor.”
At 54 years old, Combs is currently detained in a New York City jail for federal sex trafficking charges that were revealed just one day after his arrest on September 16. The charges include serious allegations of coercing and abusing women, as well as silencing victims through intimidation and threats.
The lawsuit involving the 10-year-old—whose identity has not been disclosed—claims that he was aspiring to be an actor and rapper and had traveled from California with his parents to meet industry executives. During what he believed was an audition for Combs, he was reportedly given a soda that had been laced with drugs by an associate of Combs and was subsequently assaulted by the Bad Boy Records founder, according to the legal filing.
The young boy lost consciousness during the incident, and upon waking, he was allegedly threatened by Combs, who warned him against speaking about the events, suggesting that harm could come to his parents if he did.
The second lawsuit revolves around a 17-year-old male, who claims that Combs forced him to engage in sexual acts alongside a bodyguard during a three-day audition for the “Making the Band” show, which Combs produced.
When the teenager voiced his concerns and hesitations regarding the situation, he was reportedly removed from the competition and subsequently faced a seven-year hiatus from pursuing a career in the music industry, as per the lawsuit.
Both lawsuits were filed under New York City’s Victims of Gender-Motivated Violence Protection Act, a law which permits survivors to pursue legal action even after the statute of limitations has elapsed.
