Federal law enforcement agencies have begun a sweeping “interagency operation” to improve conditions at Brooklyn’s Metropolitan Detention Center, where Sean “Diddy” Combs is being held ahead of his trial.
On Monday, teams from the Department of Justice, Bureau of Prisons, and other agencies conducted a pre-planned inspection of the infamous facility.
A spokesperson stated that the mission aims “to achieve our shared goal of maintaining a safe environment” for both inmates and staff. The operation wasn’t sparked by any specific threat but was deemed necessary for safety reasons, although officials declined to share specifics until its completion.

Combs, 54, has been detained at the Metropolitan Detention Center since his September 17 arrest on charges of sex trafficking and racketeering. Known for violence, poor sanitation, and staff shortages, the jail has seen two fatal stabbings and another stabbing incident in recent months, according to the Associated Press.
Currently, Combs is housed in a special 20-person “dormitory-style” unit, separated from the general population, which is designated for high-profile or cooperative inmates. He shares the space with other notable figures, including crypto fraudster Sam Bankman-Fried, who is awaiting an appeal on his 25-year sentence.
Legal Battles to Secure Combs’ Release Fail
Combs’ attorneys have made two attempts to secure his release, citing the jail’s deplorable conditions. However, a judge has denied both motions, citing the risk that Combs might flee or threaten potential witnesses. The rap mogul remains in custody as the case advances toward trial, with the detention center’s dire environment now under federal scrutiny.
