POCATELLO, Idaho — In an exhilarating overtime finish, Idaho State triumphed over Sacramento State with a score of 30-27 on Saturday night, thanks to a ten-yard touchdown pass from Kobe Tracy to Jeff Weimer.
The drama unfolded when Zach Schreiner successfully kicked a 41-yard field goal for Sacramento State in their first offensive attempt during overtime. Earlier, Schreiner had managed to tie the game with a 27-yard field goal with just 1:35 left in regulation, bringing the score to 24-24.
In the latter stages of the second half, Idaho State added a contribution from Gabe Panikowski, who kicked a 35-yard field goal, marking the only points scored during that period.
The second quarter showcased a flurry of scoring. Tracy connected with Christian Fredricksen for two touchdown passes, while Nathan Reynolds also showcased defensive prowess by returning a fumble 53 yards for a touchdown.
For Sacramento State, the scoring began with a two-yard touchdown run from Elijah Tau-Tolliver in the first quarter, followed by a 10-yard touchdown run from Erza Moleni in the second. The half concluded dramatically, with Carson Conklin throwing a 19-yard touchdown pass to Jared Gipson, tying the game at 20 just 20 seconds before halftime.
Kobe Tracy had an impressive night passing for Idaho State, completing 24 of 38 attempts for 296 yards, accompanied by three touchdowns and two interceptions. Christian Fredricksen emerged as a standout, accumulating 163 yards on ten receptions, while Weimer contributed with six catches for 95 yards.
On the other side, Sacramento State’s Curron Borders led the rushing game with 145 yards on 18 carries, and teammate Tau-Tolliver added another 100 yards on 11 carries. Conklin demonstrated his skill in the air, completing 24 of 40 passes for a total of 270 yards.
This thrilling contest not only showcased the competitive spirit of both teams but also solidified Idaho State’s standing in the Big Sky Conference at 4-5, 2-3, while Sacramento State fell to 3-5, 1-3.
