HOMESTEAD, Fla.
— Tyler Reddick, the regular-season champion, secured the pole position for the upcoming race in the third round of NASCAR’s playoffs scheduled for Sunday.
Reddick achieved a lap time of 167.452 mph while driving a Toyota Camry for 23XI Racing, edging out Kyle Larson from Hendrick Motorsports by a narrow margin of 0.077 seconds to earn the top spot on the starting grid at Homestead-Miami Speedway.
Currently, Reddick is among seven competitors striving for three available slots in the Cup Series championship finale set to take place in Phoenix.
The previous week, Joey Logano from Team Penske locked himself into the championship by clinching a victory at Las Vegas.
This marks Reddick’s third time starting from pole in the No. 45 Camry throughout the 2024 season.
In other qualifying results, Christopher Bell from Joe Gibbs Racing, who triumphed at Homestead last year, qualified third in the No. 20 Camry, while his teammate Denny Hamlin secured the fourth position in the No. 11 Camry.
As for the other playoff contenders, Chase Elliott qualified seventh, reigning Cup champion Ryan Blaney will start from 20th, and William Byron will begin in 25th place.
