SMITHFIELD, R.I. — Richmond secured a resounding 41-14 victory over Bryant on Saturday, with Camden Coleman being the standout performer by throwing four touchdown passes and adding another touchdown on the ground. This win marks Richmond’s sixth consecutive victory and keeps them undefeated in the Coastal Athletic Association.
Bryant struck first in the contest with a 23-yard touchdown pass from Brennan Myer to Marc Taglieri Jr. during their initial drive. However, the Spiders (6-2, 4-0) quickly took control of the game by scoring touchdowns on all their first-half possessions, culminating in a particularly impressive 28-point second quarter, which allowed them to lead 41-7 at halftime.
Coleman started the scoring for Richmond with a 4-yard run that leveled the game. Shortly after, Zach Palmer-Smith added a 1-yard touchdown run that propelled Richmond into a lead they would not relinquish. All of Coleman’s touchdown throws occurred during the explosive second quarter, including a remarkable 60-yard connection with Nick DeGennaro. Additionally, Coleman hit Jerry Garcia Jr. for two touchdown receptions, one of which was a creative 36-yard flea flicker play.
Coleman completed an impressive 15 of 16 passes for 278 yards. DeGennaro was a key target, finishing with seven receptions for 162 yards. Richmond is currently ranked 13th in the FCS coaches’ poll.
For Bryant (2-6, 0-4), Myer finished the game with 8 completions out of 16 attempts, accumulating 121 yards, along with two touchdowns and one interception.
