HARRISBURG, Pa. — Authorities in a Pennsylvania county announced on Friday that they are investigating approximately 2,500 voter registration forms that may have been submitted fraudulently.
In an early morning news release, the Lancaster County Elections Board stated, “Board of Elections staff members identified and contained incidents of voter registration fraud.” They further mentioned that election personnel, along with the district attorney’s office, are currently analyzing the extent and nature of the fraudulent activities.
With the presidential election set for November 5, Pennsylvania stands as a critical swing state in the race, holding 19 electoral votes amid a tightly contested environment.
District Attorney Heather Adams, a Republican, along with the three county commissioners, have scheduled a press conference to provide details on how the suspicious registration forms were recognized and addressed, as well as update the public on the ongoing investigation.
The elections board is made up of the three commissioners: Republicans Ray D’Agostino and Josh Parsons, alongside Democrat Alice Yoder. According to the county’s release, the registration forms under scrutiny were submitted in two separate batches just before Pennsylvania’s voter registration deadline, which occurred this past Monday.
