NORFOLK, Va. — In an impressive display of skill, freshman quarterback Colton Joseph led Old Dominion to a decisive 47-19 triumph over Georgia Southern on Thursday evening. Joseph threw four touchdown passes in the first half, with two of those connections going to Demariyon Houston, showcasing his effectiveness and composure on the field.

Joseph demonstrated his abilities by completing 20 out of 26 passes for a remarkable 304 yards and even contributed a 30-yard rushing touchdown in the third quarter. His performance began by putting the Monarchs ahead with an 8-yard scoring pass to Devin Roche, establishing a quick 7-0 lead. Following that, Joseph found Houston for a 23-yard touchdown pass, though the extra point attempt failed, leaving the score at 13-0.

In a standout second quarter, Joseph connected with Pat Conroy on a 56-yard touchdown throw and subsequently completed another short pass to Houston for a 7-yard touchdown. By halftime, Old Dominion had built a commanding 30-7 lead, with Joseph amassing an impressive 268 yards through the air in just the first half.

On the opposite sideline, Georgia Southern’s quarterback JC French finished the night with 259 yards, completing 17 of 29 passes, including one interception. French’s performance included a 59-yard touchdown pass to Josh Dallas during the second quarter and a 55-yard connection with Dalen Cobb in the third quarter. Backup quarterback Dexter Williams II added to the Eagles’ efforts with 4 completions on 7 attempts for 44 yards, including a 4-yard touchdown pass to O.J. Arnold.

For Old Dominion, Aaron Young contributed to the ground game with 14 carries for 77 yards and a touchdown. Additionally, Isiah Paige highlighted the receiving corps with seven receptions totaling 100 yards.

In terms of overall offense, Old Dominion outperformed Georgia Southern, amassing a total of 560 yards compared to 416 yards allowed.
