Broncos wideout Josh Reynolds recuperating from gunshot injuries following strip club outing

ENGLEWOOD, Colo. — Denver Broncos wide receiver Josh Reynolds is currently recuperating from two gunshot wounds sustained following a visit to a strip club last week.

“The shooting incident involving Josh Reynolds occurred on Friday in Denver, resulting in minor injuries that required medical attention,” the Broncos stated in an official report. “In order to respect the ongoing legal proceedings, we will refrain from providing further comments and will defer to law enforcement.”

According to the Denver police, two men, identified as Luis Mendoza, 35, and Burr Charlesworth, 42, have been arrested in connection with the shooting. The incident took place around 3 a.m. on October 18 along Interstate 25, just south of downtown.

The suspects are being held on charges related to attempted first-degree murder and first-degree assault. Local authorities mentioned that they are also working to identify additional suspects, which is why the arrest reports have been sealed to maintain the investigation’s integrity.

NBC affiliate KUSA-TV reported that Reynolds sustained injuries from being shot once in his left arm and another bullet grazed the back of his head. Eyewitness accounts suggest that Reynolds and another man were pursued after exiting a club known as Shotgun Willies.

Reynolds is presently on injured reserve due to a broken finger, which prevented him from accompanying the team to their game in New Orleans on October 17. This shooting occurred just a few hours after the Broncos secured a victory against the Saints.

Despite the situation, Reynolds has been observed participating in workouts on a separate field during the Broncos’ practices this week. Players listed on injured reserve are usually prohibited from speaking with the media.

Now in his ninth season in the NFL, Reynolds is experiencing his inaugural year with the Broncos after signing a two-year, $9 million contract last offseason. So far, he has appeared in five games, with one start, and has accumulated 12 receptions for 183 yards and one touchdown.

Prior to joining Denver, Reynolds spent the last three seasons with the Detroit Lions and has also played for the Tennessee Titans and the Los Angeles Rams, who selected him in the fourth round of the 2017 NFL Draft after his college career at Texas A&M.
