ACAMBARO, Mexico – Authorities reported that a car bomb detonated outside a police station in Acambaro, located in the western region of Mexico, resulting in injuries to three individuals. This information was confirmed by officials in the troubled state of Guanajuato on Thursday.

In addition to this incident, there was a separate explosion in the neighboring town of Jerecuaro; fortunately, there were no reported injuries from that blast.

The timing and proximity of these attacks, occurring roughly thirty minutes apart in distinct locations, indicate potential involvement from drug cartels that have long been engaged in violent disputes over territory in Guanajuato.

Amid this ongoing violence, newly elected President Claudia Sheinbaum has reaffirmed her commitment to continue the “hugs, not bullets” policy promoted by her predecessor. During a statement on Thursday, Sheinbaum instructed the military to avoid direct confrontations with the cartels, emphasizing her approach to handling the situation.
