Hertl nets two goals as Golden Knights end three-game losing streak with 6-1 victory against Kings

LAS VEGAS – Tomas Hertl delivered an impressive performance with two goals and two assists as the Vegas Golden Knights triumphed over the Los Angeles Kings 6-1 on Tuesday evening.

This victory marked the end of a three-game losing streak for the Golden Knights, who had struggled during a recent succession of away games. With this win, Vegas extended its unbeaten streak at home for the current season.

The team’s scoring was boosted by contributions from Mark Stone, Pavel Dorofeyev, Alexander Holtz, and Ivan Brabashev, while goaltender Ilya Samsonov successfully saved 31 shots.

On the other side, Warren Foegele provided the lone goal for the Kings, and David Rittich managed to make 24 saves as Los Angeles faced its seventh consecutive away game at the start of the season.
Highlighting the Kings’ performance, Trevor Moore, after opening the season with six takeaways, could not add to his tally against the Golden Knights during this match.

For the Golden Knights, Alexander Holtz, who had arrived from New Jersey back in June, finally found the back of the net, breaking a prior rut as he entered the game with a minus-3 rating.

An exciting moment of the game came during the first period, where the Golden Knights displayed some of their best team play. In a surge lasting 6:05, they propelled themselves to a 3-0 lead, driven by two goals from their top power-play unit. Hertl opened his scoring account for the season, quickly followed by a goal from Stone, with Dorofeyev sealing this incredible stretch of play and letting Vegas dominate early on.

In terms of individual performance, Hertl matched his career-high of four points, a milestone he has achieved on three occasions before. This marked the first time in over a year, since January 17, 2022, that he had such an outstanding game, which he had last accomplished while playing for San Jose against the Kings.

Looking ahead, the Golden Knights are set to host the Ottawa Senators on Friday, continuing their homestand, while the Kings will face off against the San Jose Sharks at home on Thursday night during their season opener.
