Harris asserts Democrats are prepared for potential premature victory claims by Trump

Kamala Harris indicated on Tuesday that her team is ready to address any premature victory declarations by Donald Trump in the upcoming 2024 election, emphasizing that her primary goal is to secure a win against the Republican candidate.

In an interview with NBC News, just two weeks ahead of Election Day, Harris asserted that Democrats possess both the resources and expertise necessary to counter any attempts by Trump to undermine the election process.

She remarked, “Donald Trump is someone who attempted to overturn a free and fair election, continues to deny the people’s will, and instigated a violent attack on the United States Capitol causing harm to approximately 140 law enforcement officials, some of whom lost their lives. This is a grave issue.”

Trump has faced criminal charges connected to his efforts to negate the 2020 election results, and he refuses to acknowledge his defeat to President Joe Biden. This denial culminated in the riot at the U.S. Capitol on January 6, 2021, where his supporters violently clashed with law enforcement in a bid to halt the electoral certification.

At Harris’ campaign rallies, her backers have been heard shouting “Lock him up,” echoing Trump’s past statements regarding former rival Hillary Clinton. In response, Harris typically states, “The courts will take care of that. We’ll focus on November.”

During a campaign event on Tuesday, Biden quipped, “We’ve got to lock him up,” but quickly corrected himself to say, “Lock him out, that’s what I meant.”

Biden further remarked, “No president has ever behaved like this. He genuinely poses a threat to our democracy.”

As American political campaigns increasingly see clashes over voting regulations, the amount of litigation surrounding elections has surged in recent years. With substantial funds allocated for legal challenges and a growing number of external organizations vying to influence election outcomes, it seems unlikely that these disputes will abate in the near future.
