England and the US to launch the 2025 Women’s Rugby World Cup

LONDON — The 2025 Women’s Rugby World Cup is set to kick off on August 22 with a highly anticipated match between former champions, England and the United States, in Sunderland.

This inaugural match marks the beginning of a 24-game pool stage that will take place across eight venues in England.

The tournament will unfold during six weekends, with most matches scheduled for afternoon starts.

In an effort to prioritize player welfare and enhance team performance, each team will enjoy a minimum of six days between their matches.

The quarterfinals will be hosted at Ashton Gate in Bristol and Sandy Park in Exeter, with Ashton Gate also serving as the venue for both semifinal matches.

The grand final will take place at Twickenham Stadium on September 27.

Defending champions, New Zealand, will begin their campaign against Spain in York, while Brazil, who made history as the first South American team to qualify for a Women’s Rugby World Cup, will face off against South Africa in Northampton.
