Vice President Kamala Harris’s campaign raised nearly $222 million in September, a sum more than three times that of former President Donald Trump’s campaign. According to Federal Election Commission (FEC) filings posted late Sunday, Harris’s campaign brought in $221.8 million last month, while Trump raised close to $63 million. The significant fundraising gap highlights the momentum behind Harris’s campaign as the election draws closer.
Harris’s Campaign Fundraising Totals Soar
While the official FEC filings reflect $221.8 million raised by Harris in September, her campaign did not announce the full total by the Sunday filing deadline. Reports suggest the total amount, including funds from the Democratic National Committee and allied party committees, could be closer to $360 million for the month. Harris’s campaign has raised an impressive $1 billion over the last three months, marking a record-breaking fundraising quarter for a presidential campaign.
Trump’s Campaign September Fundraising
Former President Trump’s campaign also made headlines earlier this month when it reported raising $160 million in donations for September, which includes contributions from outside fundraising groups. Trump’s campaign emphasized that 96 percent of its donations came from grassroots supporters contributing less than $200, underscoring the strength of his base.
Harris’s August Fundraising Success
In August, Harris’s campaign raised $361 million, a significant boost that allowed her campaign to enter September with $404 million in cash on hand. This followed the period after President Joe Biden withdrew from the race and endorsed Harris, which helped her campaign raise over $615 million up to that point. The strong financial position places her campaign in a dominant position as it continues to build momentum heading into the final stretch of the election.
Trump Campaign’s Financial Position
Trump’s campaign reported raising $130 million in August and entered September with $295 million in cash on hand. Despite being outraised by Harris, Trump’s campaign remains focused on mobilizing its base through small-dollar donations, positioning itself as a contender in the heated race.
