CONWAY, S.C. — On Monday, Coastal Carolina announced the dismissal of their offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach, Travis Trickett. In light of this shift, head coach Tim Beck will assume the responsibilities of both positions.
Trickett had been at the helm of the Chanticleers’ offense for the past two years. Under his leadership, the team finished seventh in the Sun Belt Conference in 2023, averaging 416.2 yards per game. However, this season, their performance has seen a slight decline, with the team currently ranking sixth in the league with 396.4 yards per game.
Before joining Coastal Carolina, Beck held multiple coaching roles at prestigious programs, serving as offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach at Nebraska, Ohio State, Texas, and N.C. State from 2008 to 2022.
In expressing gratitude toward Trickett, Beck stated that this decision was made with the team’s best interests in mind. “As head football coach, I believe this is best for our team moving forward,” he mentioned in his announcement regarding the personnel change.
The Chanticleers, currently with a record of 4-2 and 1-2 in the Sun Belt, have encountered difficulties in their recent matches, suffering losses to Louisiana and James Madison. In these two games, they managed to score just a total of 31 points. Their performance in the 39-7 defeat to James Madison marked a season low, with only 181 yards of offense recorded.
Starting quarterback Ethan Vasko stepped in during the offseason after four-year starter Grayson McCall transferred to N.C. State. So far, Vasko has completed 52% of his passes, totaling eight touchdowns against four interceptions.
