A small aircraft tragically crashed during an air show in New Mexico, resulting in the death of the sole occupant, as reported by local officials.
The incident took place around 2:30 p.m. on Sunday at the Las Cruces Air and Space Expo, which was being hosted at Las Cruces International Airport. The two-seater Extra Flugzeugbau EA300 monoplane was engaged in aerobatic maneuvers when it went down approximately half a mile west of the airport.
Authorities confirmed that the pilot did not survive the crash, leading to the cancellation of the remainder of the air show. In the wake of this tragic event, a representative from the National Transportation Safety Board is anticipated to arrive in Las Cruces on Monday. They will focus on documenting the crash site and analyzing the wreckage. The investigation into the incident will be conducted primarily by the New Mexico State Police.
