Jets to miss cornerbacks D.J. Reed and Michael Carter II in matchup against Steelers and Russell Wilson

PITTSBURGH — The New York Jets will not have cornerbacks D.J. Reed and Michael Carter II available for their matchup against the Pittsburgh Steelers this Sunday night.

Reed is sidelined due to a groin injury he sustained during the Jets’ recent defeat to the Buffalo Bills, while Carter, who plays the crucial slot cornerback position, has been ruled out for a second consecutive week because of ongoing back problems. This development comes as a blow for the Jets as they prepare to face the Steelers’ offensive strategies.

The Steelers will be led by veteran quarterback Russell Wilson, who is anticipated to make his first appearance with the team following a calf injury that sidelined him for the opening weeks of the season. His return could significantly impact the Steelers’ performance against the Jets.

In addition to Reed and Carter, the Jets have designated several more players as inactive, including offensive tackle Carter Warren, offensive lineman Max Mitchell, edge rusher Braiden McGregor, wide receiver Malachi Corley, and running back Israel Abanikanda, who garnered attention during his time at the University of Pittsburgh.

On the Steelers’ side, rookie wide receiver Roman Wilson finds himself inactive again after being part of the game day roster for the first time last week in a game against Las Vegas. Nick Herbig, an outside linebacker, is also missing another game due to a hamstring injury, while wide receiver and kick returner Cordarrelle Patterson will miss his third consecutive game because of an ankle issue. Additionally, rookie center Zach Frazier is out due to an ankle injury, paving the way for Ryan McCollum to fill in.

Furthermore, the Steelers will also be without quarterback Kyle Allen, safety Damontae Kazee, and running back Aaron Shampklin, all of whom have been marked inactive for this matchup.
