MUNICH — Bayern Munich’s forward Jamal Musiala will not be available for the upcoming Bundesliga match against Stuttgart due to an ongoing injury.
Head coach Vincent Kompany confirmed on Friday that Musiala, who is dealing with a hip injury, will not be part of the squad. The 21-year-old talent has been sidelined since Bayern’s 1-0 defeat to Aston Villa in the Champions League on October 2. Just two days after that match, Bayern announced that Musiala would be unavailable “for the time being.”
Kompany also expressed uncertainty regarding the fitness of French defender Dayot Upamecano for the match against Stuttgart. If Upamecano is unable to recover in time, options like Eric Dier or Leon Goretzka might step in to form the central defense alongside Kim Min-jae.
Stuttgart had a mixed start to their campaign this season, despite finishing as the runner-up last year. However, they recently showcased their potential by significantly defeating Borussia Dortmund 5-1, positioning themselves as one of Bayer Leverkusen’s major contenders this year.
As for Bayern, they maintain an unbeaten streak under Kompany, having played six Bundesliga matches without a loss, and currently top the league table based on goal difference, closely followed by Leipzig, which is set to face Mainz earlier on Saturday.
