PAJU, South Korea — The BMW Ladies Championship in South Korea experienced significant disruptions on Friday as heavy rainfall forced the suspension of the second round, preventing any players from completing their matches.
After the initial round on Thursday, Hannah Green from Australia, Ashleigh Buhai of South Africa, and South Korea’s Jenny Shin were tied for the lead, each scoring an impressive 8-under 64 at the Seowon Valley Country Club.
As the second round commenced, Green maintained her lead, having made an impressive start with a score of 4-under after just nine holes, bringing her total to 12-under for the tournament before play was halted. Buhai was close behind, sitting at 10-under, also after nine holes.
The continuation of the second round is scheduled for Saturday, and it will begin before the third round commences. Fortunately, forecasts indicate that rain is not anticipated for the remainder of the tournament, which is set to conclude on Sunday.
The competition features a strong lineup, including eight of the LPGA Tour’s top ten players, along with 17 of the 18 winners from this season. The only notable absentee is American star Kelly Korda, who had to withdraw from the competition due to a neck injury.
