Ex-NBC anchor Brian Williams makes a comeback for election night by hosting a special on Amazon.

Former NBC News anchor Brian Williams is set to return to the airwaves on election night, hosting a live streaming special featuring results and analysis on Amazon Prime Video.

Recently announced by Amazon, this election night broadcast will kick off at 5 p.m. Eastern, although no specific ending time has been indicated. Jonathan Wald, who has collaborated with Williams during their time at NBC, will take on the role of executive producer for the event.

This initiative marks a new venture for Amazon, as it steps into the realm of live election coverage without an existing news department. The streaming service has offered limited information about the broadcast but mentioned that it will include election results from various third-party news sources, along with contributions from several yet-to-be-disclosed guests who will provide commentary.

Williams and Wald have not made public comments following the announcement, according to Amazon.

Williams previously anchored “NBC Nightly News” from 2004 to 2015, where he led the network’s coverage on election nights. Afterward, he transitioned to MSNBC, where he hosted his own late-night news show until he departed in 2021.

Sharing his thoughts on this new project, Williams expressed excitement about the opportunity, stating, “After 41 years in the business — from local news to network shows to cable news — this feels like the next big thing. And the global marketplace of Amazon is a natural home for this first-of-its-kind venture. Together we will follow the storyline on election night wherever it leads us.”

Amazon has clarified that this telecast will be a special one-night-only event for both the platform and Williams.
