The Seattle Seahawks have made a notable addition to their roster by trading for seasoned defensive lineman Roy Robertson-Harris from the Jacksonville Jaguars. In exchange for his services, the Seahawks have sent a sixth-round draft pick in the 2026 NFL draft to Jacksonville, as confirmed by a reliable source who requested anonymity due to the fact that neither team has officially disclosed the transaction. This trade was initially reported by NFL Network.

At 31 years old, Robertson-Harris is anticipated to significantly enhance the Seahawks’ run defense, which currently sits at a disappointing 27th place in the NFL ranks. Notably, he was overseas in London at the time of the trade agreement and is facing a lengthy journey of over ten hours to reach Seattle for practice scheduled on Wednesday. The Seahawks, currently holding a 3-3 record and sharing the lead in the NFC West with the San Francisco 49ers, are set to take on the Atlanta Falcons this Sunday. This schedule means Robertson-Harris will complete more than 13,000 miles (or 20,900 kilometers) of travel within an 11-day timeframe.

In the current season with Jacksonville, Robertson-Harris recorded seven tackles and two sacks over six games. He notably contributed one of three sacks during a recent 35-16 defeat against the Chicago Bears, marking a return against his former team. Earlier this year, he secured a three-year contract extension worth $21.6 million with the Jaguars, which included $14.4 million guaranteed. As part of the trade to Seattle, he will carry a salary cap hit of $1.4 million for this season, with additional costs of $6.6 million in 2025 and $6.8 million in 2026. Importantly for the Seahawks, they have the option to release him next season without incurring any salary cap penalties.

On the flip side, Jacksonville faces a dead money charge of $3.4 million this year related to the trade, which rises to $6.9 million in 2025. This season marks the eighth for Robertson-Harris in the NFL, having previously spent his first four seasons with the Chicago Bears. Across his career, he has amassed a total of 198 tackles and 19 sacks over the course of 106 games. His arrival comes as the Seahawks deal with the absence of pass rusher Uchenna Nwosu. It’s also worth noting that earlier in the season, Jacksonville traded pass rusher Trevis Gipson to Seattle in return for a late-round draft pick in 2025, though Gipson’s playing time has been limited since joining the team.
