LOS ANGELES — The impressive run of scoreless innings for the Los Angeles Dodgers’ pitching staff during the playoffs has come to an end.
In Game 2 of the National League Championship Series on Monday, Ryan Brasier surrendered a leadoff home run to Francisco Lindor of the New York Mets in the first inning.
Lindor launched a 2-2 pitch into right field for a blast that covered 395 feet, giving the Mets an early 1-0 advantage.
The Dodgers opted for a bullpen game on Monday, with Brasier being the first among several relievers lined up for pitching duties.
The night before, the Dodgers’ pitchers had achieved a remarkable milestone, tying the postseason record by completing 33 consecutive scoreless innings during a dominant 9-0 victory over the Mets.
In that game, Jack Flaherty teamed up with relievers Daniel Hudson and Ben Casparius to limit the Mets to just three hits.
The Dodgers matched the previous record held by the Baltimore Orioles, which was established during the initial four games of the 1966 World Series against the Dodgers.
The streak’s end marked a significant moment in a highly competitive postseason series.
