Emirates Team New Zealand has made significant progress in their quest to defend the America’s Cup, achieving a commanding 4-0 advantage over INEOS Britannia in the latest round of races held on Monday in Barcelona, Spain.
The competition is set up so that the first team to secure seven victories will claim the prestigious cup. With three more wins needed, the Kiwis are in a strong position, while the British team faces a substantial challenge to overcome their current deficit.
During the race, New Zealand’s entry, Taihoro, continued its dominant performance, finishing 23 seconds ahead of Britannia. The two teams were competitive throughout the initial leg, trading places at the front. However, the Kiwis gradually extended their lead, ultimately finishing over 350 meters ahead of their opponent.
The New Zealand team is aiming to capture the Auld Mug for the third consecutive time and the fifth time in their history. In contrast, this event marks a notable moment for the British team, as they have yet to secure a win in the cup’s lengthy 173-year existence and are competing in their first final in sixty years.
