The Indianapolis Colts are opting to bench their second-year quarterback, Anthony Richardson, for a second consecutive week due to a hip injury.
The announcement came as the Colts (2-3) confirmed that the fourth overall selection from the 2023 NFL Draft out of Florida will not be active for their game against the Tennessee Titans (1-3).
Veteran quarterback Joe Flacco is set to take the field for another start in Richardson’s absence.
Richardson missed the previous game against Jacksonville due to the same injury and was listed as questionable after a week of limited practice, particularly on Wednesday and Thursday.
Adding to the team’s challenges, running back Jonathan Taylor has also been ruled out for a second week due to an ankle injury, preventing the 2021 rushing champion from taking part.
On a positive note, Indianapolis will see the return of Pro Bowl center Ryan Kelly, who had been sidelined with a neck injury that kept him from playing against the Jaguars.
Additionally, the Colts will welcome back starting defensive end Kwity Paye, who had been dealing with a quadricep injury, and Pro Bowl cornerback Kenny Moore II, who had a hip issue, both of whom missed last week’s game.
