Green Bay, Wis. — The Arizona Cardinals will be without kicker Matt Prater for a second consecutive game as they face off against the Green Bay Packers this Sunday. In contrast, the Packers are set to have wide receiver Christian Watson and cornerback Jaire Alexander back in their lineup.
The Cardinals confirmed on Sunday morning that Prater, who is recovering from a knee injury, will not participate in the game. This injury also kept him sidelined during their previous match, where the Cardinals managed to secure a narrow 24-23 victory against the San Francisco 49ers. To fill in for Prater, Chad Ryland has been elevated from the practice squad for the second week in a row and will handle the kicking duties.
Last week, Prater successfully completed 3 out of 4 field-goal attempts during the game against the 49ers. One of his successful kicks, a 35-yarder, ultimately secured the lead for the Cardinals with just 1:37 remaining in the game. His only miss, however, was a blocked attempt that the 49ers turned into a touchdown.
On the Packers’ side, they have announced the return of both Alexander and Watson for the matchup. Alexander, who has been battling a groin injury, had missed the previous two games, while Watson was unable to play in the Packers’ 24-19 victory against the Los Angeles Rams due to an ankle injury.
The list of inactive players for the Packers includes defensive lineman Brenton Cox Jr., offensive tackles Andre Dillard and Travis Glover, tight end John FitzPatrick, and defensive lineman Devonte Wyatt. This marks the second game Wyatt has missed as he continues to recover from an ankle injury.
For the Cardinals, beyond Prater, the inactive list also features cornerback Darren Hall, linebackers Victor Dimukeje and Xavier Thomas, and tight end Travis Vokolek.
