LAFAYETTE, La. — In an exciting matchup, Louisiana-Lafayette triumphed over Appalachian State with a final score of 34-24 on Saturday evening, powered by an impressive performance from Ben Wooldridge, who contributed to three touchdowns during the game.

The pivotal moment came with 13:32 left on the clock when Louisiana-Lafayette’s Justin Agu seized a fumble and sprinted 70 yards to place the ball at Appalachian State’s 7-yard line. Immediately following this, Bill Davis fumbled the snap, allowing Landon Burton to recover in the end zone, increasing Louisiana-Lafayette’s advantage to 27-17.

Appalachian State put up a strong fight as Joey Aguilar connected with Eli Wilson on a 26-yard touchdown pass, narrowing the score to 27-24 with just 8:06 remaining. However, Wooldridge ensured victory for Louisiana-Lafayette by rushing for a 1-yard touchdown with only 1:03 left in the game. This touchdown came amidst two interceptions made by Tyrone Lewis Jr., solidifying the win for Louisiana-Lafayette (5-1, 2-0 in the Sun Belt Conference).

On the other side, Aguilar finished the game with 20 completions out of 42 attempts, totaling 236 yards along with three touchdown passes and four interceptions for Appalachian State (2-4, 0-3 in conference play).
