Oregon’s Traeshon Holden thrown out for spitting at an Ohio State athlete

EUGENE, Ore. – During a recent match against Ohio State, Oregon wide receiver Traeshon Holden was ejected for unsportsmanlike behavior after he spat at an opposing player.

As the third-ranked Ducks were making a significant push in the second quarter, Holden’s actions led to his removal from the game after he directed spit towards cornerback Davison Igbinosun’s facemask.

At the time of the incident, Oregon was within striking distance, approaching the Ohio State 10-yard line. The infraction resulted in a penalty that forced the Ducks back to the 25-yard line; they ultimately had to settle for a field goal instead of attempting a touchdown.

Before his ejection, Holden had recorded one catch for 32 yards. The senior receiver was a notable contributor for the Ducks, ranking second on the team with three touchdown receptions this season. He had been a consistent performer, with at least three receptions in the last six games dating back to the previous season.

Holden’s collegiate career began at Alabama, where he played for three years before transferring to Oregon prior to last season. In his first year with the Ducks, he participated in all 14 games, achieving personal bests with 37 receptions and 452 receiving yards, while matching his career high with six touchdown receptions.
