Taiwan’s Defense Ministry reported on Sunday that it had detected multiple instances of missile launches in China shortly after Beijing announced the successful firing of an intercontinental ballistic missile into the Pacific Ocean. The missile launches were conducted by China’s Rocket Force and military units in various regions, including Inner Mongolia, Gansu, Qinghai provinces, and Xinjiang in western China. Taiwan declared its commitment to closely monitoring the situation and maintaining a high level of readiness in its air defenses.
China persistently regards Taiwan as a breakaway province that Beijing is determined to bring under its control, even if it requires the use of force. Taiwan remains vigilant about China’s military activities and the escalating tensions in the region have led to increased military exercises by China near the island in recent years.
The missile tests conducted on Sunday by China followed its announcement on Wednesday regarding the test-firing of an intercontinental ballistic missile that landed in the Pacific Ocean as intended. Taiwan swiftly criticized the missile launch, reaffirming its opposition to any actions that could potentially disrupt the peace and stability in the region. This further underscores the ongoing military tensions between China and Taiwan, highlighting the delicate nature of their relationship.
