The Seattle Mariners secured a 7-6 victory over the Oakland Athletics in 10 innings on Saturday night, with Leo Rivas scoring the winning run on Justin Turner’s fielder’s choice grounder. This win marked Seattle’s third consecutive victory and its 11th triumph in the final at-bat of the season. Luke Raley played a crucial role in the Mariners’ success, rallying the team twice to secure their seventh win in the last nine games.

In the seventh inning, Raley’s double into the left-field corner allowed Julio Rodríguez to score from first base, giving the Mariners a 4-3 lead. Raley later hit a two-run homer in the ninth inning to tie the game 6-6 after Shea Langeliers had put the A’s ahead with a three-run homer. Eduard Bazardo earned the win for the Mariners, while Scott Alexander suffered the loss for the Athletics.

Mariners catcher Cal Raleigh also made an impact by hitting his 92nd career home run in the fourth inning, tying him with Hall of Famer Mike Piazza for the most home runs by a catcher in the first four years of a career. Josh Rojas contributed with a two-run single to help Seattle take a 3-0 lead.

Emerson Hancock, a rookie right-hander making his 12th start, walked four batters but struck out three and gave up five hits in 5 1/3 innings. He faced challenges in the fifth inning when Brent Rocker hit a home run to cut Seattle’s lead to 3-2, and Tyler Soderstrom later tied the game with a solo shot in the sixth.

In injury news, Mariners RHP Bryce Miller was placed on the 15-day injured list due to a blister on his right index finger. The move provided an opportunity for Hancock, who was called up from Triple-A Tacoma. Miller, with a 2.94 ERA and 0.98 WHIP, had been a standout performer with nine starts of 6-plus scoreless innings.

Next, the Seattle Mariners will have RHP Logan Gilbert facing Oakland RHP Mitch Spence to conclude the season. This matchup will mark the end of the regular season for both teams.
