Villanova secured a 24-10 victory over Long Island in a college football game on Saturday, with David Avit leading the way with 160 rushing yards and one touchdown. Isaiah Ragland also made significant contributions with two rushing touchdowns. The Wildcats’ defense held strong, limiting Long Island to just 176 yards and 10 first downs.
Ragland’s touchdowns came on runs of 12 and 1 yard, while Avit found the end zone with a 5-yard run. Villanova established a commanding 24-0 lead early in the fourth quarter. Despite Long Island’s Pat Bowen scoring a 25-yard touchdown, the Wildcats maintained control of the game.
Quarterback Connor Watkins completed 10 of 18 passes for 128 yards, complementing the team’s ground game that gained 264 yards. Villanova, ranked No. 6 in the Football Championship Subdivision (FCS), accumulated a total of 392 yards, secured 22 first downs, and converted 7 of 14 third-down attempts.
Ludovick Choquette contributed 62 rushing yards for Long Island, but it was not enough to overcome Villanova’s dominant performance. The Sharks fell to a 0-5 record while Villanova improved to 4-1. The Wildcats showcased their strength on both sides of the ball, solidifying their standing as a formidable force in the FCS.
