Pennsylvania woman found guilty of murdering her two children in 2019

A woman from Pennsylvania, Lisa Snyder, has been found guilty of killing her two young children, who were discovered hanging in the basement of their home five years ago. The tragic incident took place in September 2019 in Albany Township, located around 60 miles northwest of Philadelphia. Following a thorough legal process, Lisa Snyder, aged 41, has been convicted of two counts of first-degree murder in the deaths of her children, 4-year-old Brinley and 8-year-old Conner. Despite Snyder’s claims to the police that her son was being bullied and had threatened self-harm, investigations found no evidence supporting her statements. Notably, her son showed no signs of distress on a school bus security video, and a professional later confirmed the child lacked the physical capability to harm himself or his sister.
Snyder’s online activities further raised suspicions, with searches related to suicide, death by hanging, and methods to cause harm to others. Additionally, her viewing habits, including a crime series called “I Almost Got Away With It,” added to the prosecution’s case. The deaths of both children were determined by a coroner to be homicides resulting from hanging. Despite the defense’s claims that the case was largely speculative, Lisa Snyder was found guilty by the Berks County Court of Common Pleas President Judge Theresa Johnson, after opting for a trial by judge over a jury.
In addition to the first-degree murder charges, Snyder was also convicted of child endangerment and evidence tampering. The sentencing for these heinous crimes has been scheduled for October 17th. Previously, Snyder had attempted to enter a plea of no contest but mentally ill to lesser charges of third-degree murder. However, this plea agreement was rejected by Judge Johnson last year, who deemed it inappropriate in the pursuit of justice. As a result of the convictions, Snyder now faces an automatic life sentence in prison without parole for her unfathomable actions against her own children.
