UFC settles $375 million in one class-action lawsuit, another lawsuit still ongoing

The Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) has recently finalized a new settlement agreement worth $375 million with one of the two class-action litigants involved in antitrust lawsuits. This settlement comes after a previous $335 million agreement was dismissed by a Nevada district judge, Richard Boulware, in July. The new deal is between the UFC’s parent company TKO Group Holdings and former fighter Cung Le, who initiated his lawsuit back in 2014.

Despite believing that the original settlement was fair, the UFC has decided to move forward with the new agreement in the best interest of all parties involved. The court still needs to approve the terms of this updated settlement. The UFC expressed its commitment to resolving the ongoing litigation and bringing closure to the legal disputes surrounding the antitrust lawsuits.

However, the UFC has yet to reach a settlement with the second litigant, Kajan Johnson, who filed his lawsuit more recently in 2021. The UFC stated that negotiations with Johnson are still at an early stage, with a pending motion to dismiss his complaint. The fight promotion organization continues to work towards resolving these legal issues to ensure a fair outcome for all parties.

This latest development marks another step in the legal proceedings surrounding the UFC’s antitrust lawsuits. The organization remains focused on addressing these issues and reaching settlements with all parties involved. While the specifics of the new agreement with Cung Le have not been disclosed, the resolution of this case represents progress in bringing an end to the longstanding legal disputes between the UFC and the former fighters.
