This Saturday, the Louisiana-Lafayette Ragin’ Cajuns with a 2-1 record will face the Wake Forest Demon Deacons, who are 1-2, at 3:30 p.m. ET on the ACC Network. Wake Forest is favored to win by 3 1/2 points in this first-ever meeting between the two teams.

Wake Forest is seeking to bounce back after two consecutive home losses to Virginia and Ole Miss. Louisiana-Lafayette, on the other hand, is looking to recover from a recent defeat to Tulane after a strong 2-0 start to the season.

One of the key matchups to watch in this game will be between Wake Forest QB Hank Bachmeier and Louisiana-Lafayette’s stout defense. Bachmeier has shown promise with 403 passing yards in the last game but has been struggling with sacks in recent losses. Louisiana-Lafayette’s defense ranks highly, allowing the second-fewest first downs nationally and ranking 21st in total defense.

Players to keep an eye on include Louisiana-Lafayette’s QB Ben Wooldridge, who has thrown for 735 yards and six touchdowns in three starts, as well as Wake Forest’s RB Demond Claiborne, who adds speed to the running game.

Louisiana-Lafayette is embarking on a challenging stretch with four out of five games on the road. Wake Forest has a solid nonconference record over the past six years, with an 18-6 record. The Demon Deacons gave up significant yardage in their recent losses, while the Ragin’ Cajuns have been disciplined with few penalties this season.

The teams bring different expectations into the game, with Wake Forest picked to finish 15th out of 17 teams in the newly expanded ACC, and Louisiana-Lafayette projected to finish third in its Sun Belt Conference division.

As college football fans gear up for this matchup, all eyes will be on the field as these two teams face off for the first time, each looking to make a statement in their respective conferences.
