Miami quarterback Cam Ward recently achieved a significant milestone by surpassing 15,000 passing yards in his college football career, becoming the 13th player acknowledged by the NCAA to reach this accomplishment. Ward reached this feat during Saturday night’s game, where he only needed 89 yards to achieve the milestone and successfully did so with a 22-yard completion to Isaiah Horton in the first quarter against South Florida.

Among active college quarterbacks, only Oregon’s Dillon Gabriel has accumulated more passing yards than Ward, with a career total of 15,779 yards in 53 games across three different schools. Ward, in his 48th game, previously played at FCS member Incarnate Word and Washington State before joining the Miami Hurricanes, where he had already thrown for 14,911 yards before the recent game.

Other quarterbacks recognized by the NCAA for surpassing 15,000 passing yards include Case Keenum with 19,217 yards, Timmy Chang with 17,072 yards, Tyson Bagent with 17,034 yards, Landry Jones with 16,646 yards, Bo Cordell with 16,265 yards, Graham Harrell with 15,793 yards, Sam Hartman with 15,656 yards, Austin Reed with 15,550 yards, Bo Nix with 15,351 yards, John Matocha with 15,102 yards, and Ty Detmer with 15,031 yards.

The achievement places Ward among an elite group of accomplished college quarterbacks in terms of passing yardage, showcasing his talent and contribution to Miami football. His milestone adds to a list of notable players who have excelled in the passing game during their collegiate careers.
